The EHS & Facilities Manager leads Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Lead Safety, Environmental Compliance, Radiation Safety coordination, and Facilities Management for the Florham Park manufacturing site. This role is the site authority for workplace safety, environmental compliance, emergency preparedness, hazardous and radioactive waste management, and facility infrastructure and security systems.
The site operates licensed radiation sources and maintains a designated Radiation Safety Officer (RSO). This role is not the licensed RSO but works closely with the RSO to improve radiation safety standards, program consistency, and regulatory compliance.
The EHS & Facilities Manager promotes a continuous improvement–driven safety culture while ensuring compliance with OSHA, NRC, EPA, DOT, and applicable state and local regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
EHS & Compliance
- Lead the site EHS management system and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, NRC (as applicable), and state/local regulations.
- Serve as the primary site contact for EHS-related inspections, audits, reporting, and corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain safety programs including Hazard Communication, Lead Safety, JSA/Risk Assessments, LOTO, Machine Guarding, and Emergency Action Planning.
- Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and environmental events; manage Workers’ Compensation claims.
- Lead safety committees, emergency drills, and safety training for employees, supervisors, and contractors.
- Maintain EHS metrics, training records, and regulatory documentation.
Radiation Safety Coordination
- Coordinate with the site RSO to support and continuously improve the radiation safety program.
- Assist with radiation safety procedures, training, audits, inspections, corrective actions, and documentation.
- Support radioactive material inventory controls, postings, access controls, and safe handling practices.
- Ensure radiation safety is integrated into facility changes, maintenance activities, and emergency planning.
This role does not assume the regulatory responsibilities of the licensed RSO.
- Manage hazardous chemical and radioactive waste programs, including identification, packaging, storage, and disposal.
- Oversee environmental monitoring (air emissions, water discharges, sampling) and regulatory reporting.
- Coordinate lead safety controls and exposure monitoring throughout the facility.
Facilities & Security
- Oversee building services, security systems, fire protection, sprinkler systems, and emergency infrastructure.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and manage external contractors and service providers.
- Support facility capital and maintenance planning.
- Manage facilities-related budgets using SAP and Microsoft Excel.
- Promote a proactive, continuous improvement–based safety culture focused on prevention and risk reduction.
- Partner with site leadership, operations, engineering, quality, and the RSO to improve safety and compliance performance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing or regulated environment.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and lead safety regulations.
- Certification in Emergency Response (minimum: First Responder – Operations Level).
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to interface professionally with regulators and external stakeholders.
- Experience in NRC-licensed facilities or environments with radiation sources.
- Experience coordinating with an RSO or radiation safety committee.
- Experience managing hazardous and/or radioactive materials.
