Join CACI’s innovative Optical and Photonic Solutions (OPS) team as a New Product Manufacturing Engineer. OPS is at the forefront of developing cutting‑edge custom photonic hardware tailored for US Government applications. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in leading production teams to establish a robust production environment, build first‑time prototypes, and sustain and grow the environment to support low‑rate initial production.
Key Responsibilities- Product Transition Leadership:
- Lead the transition of products from design to prototyping and low‑volume manufacturing.
- Develop and lead production planning, providing accurate labor, cost, and schedule estimates to support programs and proposals.
- Identify, set up, and qualify production workstations.
- Author detailed work instructions to describe and control build, assembly, and testing processes.
- Define requirements and procure custom fixtures necessary for photonic subsystem assemblies.
- Team Oversight:
- Oversee the day‑to‑day activities of a team comprising laboratory technicians and junior photonic engineers in constructing high‑power photonic sources.
- Resolve roadblocks and ensure compliance with the quality system.
- Monitor cost and schedule performance, assigning tasks and ensuring continuous progress.
- Consult with engineering leads to address non‑compliances and out‑of‑family data sets.
- Cross‑Functional
Collaboration:- Report to the program manager and interact with other small program teams to coordinate activities across build, unit test, design engineering, supply chain, material handling, and quality assurance.
- Ensure compliance with OPS’ quality system and support on‑site customer audits.
Required:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and mentor lower‑level professionals.
- Must be a US person.
- BA/BS degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a manufacturing engineer or in a related role.
Desired:
- Knowledge of optical fiber splicing and photonic system fabrication.
- Proficiency in using lightwave measurement equipment, including power detectors, optical spectrum analyzers, polarization‑extinction ratio meters, polarimeters, and optical time domain reflectometers. Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data from these instruments.
- Advanced proficiency in Infor LN.
- Proficient use of mechanical computer‑aided design software (Solid Works preferred).
- Proficient use of lab automation software.
- Skilled use of 3D printers, machine shop tools, and laser cutters.
$86,600 - $181,800. This range reflects factors such as geographic location, federal contract categories, prior experience, skills, education, and certifications.
