Join CACI’s innovative Optical and Photonic Solutions (OPS) team as a Photonic Assembly and Test Technician. OPS is dedicated to developing custom photonic hardware for US Government applications. In this role, you will contribute to the development and construction of photonic hardware, supporting both research and development laboratory efforts and production programs.
Responsibilities- Fabricate intricate fiber optic subassemblies and integrate them with electrical and mechanical components for breadboard, prototype, and production units.
- Perform optical and electrical testing as specified by work instructions, and organize, document, and present data for review and analysis by design and test engineers.
- Collaborate with engineers to support the transition of photonic subsystem designs into production; assemble test sets and test fixtures as required.
- Request material and equipment needed for assembly and testing; maintain laboratory and laboratory equipment.
- Ensure compliance with OPS’ quality system.
Required:
- Associate’s degree in engineering or a closely related technical field, or equivalent combination of education, skill, and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands‑on photonic or electrical fabrication, test, and measurement experience.
- Ability to follow detailed work instructions or test procedures.
- Prior experience with custom fine assembly.
- Computer savvy and competent user of Microsoft Office products.
- Good interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills.
- Must be a U.S. person able to receive export‑controlled information.
Desired:
- Strong photonic qualifications.
- Experience in photonics R&D with high‑power (> 1 W) fiber amplifiers or lasers.
- Prior experience with optical fiber fusion splicers, cleavers, and re‑coaters.
- Experience or knowledge of passive fiber optic components such as splitters, WDMs, and isolators.
- Experience or knowledge of active optoelectronic devices such as semiconductor laser diodes, photodiodes, and modulators.
- Proficiency with lightwave measurement equipment (power detectors, optical spectrum analyzers, polarization‑extinction ratio meters, polarimeters, optical time‑domain reflectometers) and data analysis.
- Strongly preferred electrical qualifications:
- Certification in hand soldering per J‑STD‑0001 space addendum.
- Experience with electrical fabrication and re‑work equipment, including solder stations.
- Experience with electrical measurement equipment such as voltmeters, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.

The proposed salary range is $66,100 – $135,600, influenced by factors such as location, contract categories, experience, skills, and certifications.
