Senior Tax Associate – Alternative Investment Funds Company Overview

Role OverviewThe firm is seeking a Senior Tax Associate to support private equity and credit fund clients with U.S. and international tax compliance, reporting, and structuring matters. This role focuses heavily on partnership taxation
, investor reporting, and fund-level tax considerations, working closely with internal teams and client stakeholders.
- Prepare and review federal, state, and international tax filings for fund entities and related structures
- Review Schedule K-1s and investor tax packages, ensuring accurate allocations of income, gains, losses, and credits
- Manage tax compliance calendars and ensure timely filings
- Support tax planning and structuring for new funds, acquisitions, financings, and dispositions
- Analyze tax implications related to portfolio investments, carried interest, UBTI, withholding, and treaty matters
- Partner with legal teams and fund managers to design tax-efficient entity structures
- Advise on tax considerations tied to capital calls, distributions, and fund-level leverage
- Monitor regulatory and tax law changes and communicate impacts to clients
- Serve as a point of contact for investor tax questions and allocation-related inquiries
- Review investor communications including tax letters and final K‑1 packages
- Coordinate with internal accounting, legal, and finance teams on tax processes
- Work with external advisors, auditors, and tax specialists as needed
- Research partnership tax issues, fund transactions, and cross-border tax topics
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA, JD, or MST preferred
- 2–6 years of experience in private equity fund tax, partnership taxation, or alternative investment tax
- Strong understanding of private equity and credit fund tax concepts (carried interest, leverage, distributions, international considerations)
- Experience reviewing complex partnership returns and K-1s
- Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
