AWS Architect - Cloud, FinOps

Duration: 6 Months (Contract)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect for a 6-month contract engagement to lead the architecture, design, and initial build-out of a data visualization and analytics environment. This is a senior-level, hands-on role focusing on establishing an AWS-based cloud architecture, integrating Fin Ops principles, and enabling Power BI dashboards for enterprise reporting. Once the core data environment is implemented, the work will transition to Visualization PODs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and design scalable, secure data platforms on AWS Cloud.

• Incorporate Fin Ops best practices for cost optimization and financial accountability in cloud infrastructure.

• Provide architectural guidance for the setup and usage of Power BI as a reporting and dashboarding tool.

• Collaborate with Data Engineers and Visualization PODs to ensure seamless hand-off of the implemented architecture.

• Assist in the initial build and configuration of environments as needed.

• Define and document architectural standards, design patterns, and governance practices.

• Ensure compliance with enterprise data standards and security requirements.

• Serve as a subject matter expert for cloud-native data solutions and financial observability tools.

Required

Skills & Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data platform engineering.

• Proven expertise in AWS Cloud services related to data warehousing, storage, and analytics (e.g., Redshift, S3, Glue, Athena).

• Hands-on experience with Fin Ops practices and tools for cloud cost management.

• Strong command of Power BI for enterprise-level dashboarding and visualization.

• Experience in hybrid and multi-cloud architecture design.

• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Nice to Have:

• Experience collaborating with distributed POD teams.

• Knowledge of Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses is a plus.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines in data engineering contexts.
