Overview
Position Overview
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for coordinating outgoing shipments and managing incoming deliveries. This role plays an important part in ensuring materials and products are handled, packaged, and shipped accurately and efficiently. In addition to preparing shipments, the position maintains shipping supplies inventory and ensures incoming goods are properly received and distributed to the appropriate teams.
Receiving Incoming Shipments
- Review incoming shipments and inspect for damage.
- Document and log all received goods.
- Deliver materials to the appropriate teams or individuals.
Shipping Supply Management
- Organize and maintain shipping and packing supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure inventory remains adequately stocked.
Packaging and Shipping
- Prepare, package, and organize items for outgoing shipments.
- Use shipping carrier software to generate labels and documentation.
- Schedule carrier pickups as needed.
Customer and Vendor Support
- Track shipments and resolve delivery issues when necessary.
- Document additional shipping costs such as tariffs or import fees.
- Communicate with customers, vendors, or carriers via phone or email as needed.
- Maintain accurate shipping contact and distribution records.
