JOB SUMMARY:This is a Tax Auditor III position in the General Tax Administration Program, Refunds and Revenue Accounting Process, Refunds Unit. The incumbent conducts independent refund audits of one or more taxes and performs or assists with more complex audits of business entities for the various Florida taxes administered by the Department. This position is responsible for coordinating work as well as processing, examining, analyzing, or interpreting accounting records or investigative financial information for the purposes of giving advice or preparing statements or reports for the Refund sub-process for various taxes administered by the Department of Revenue to ensure correct processing of refund claims.
This position is also responsible for training auditors, including on-the-job training and assisting in training sessions.
- Currently employed with the Florida Department of Revenue.
- Four years of accounting or auditing experience at a paraprofessional level. *
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- * Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business with a minimum of three accounting courses, or two accounting courses and one tax course.
- Experience performing sales and use tax audits within the General Tax Administration Program.
- Experience working within the System for Unified Taxation (SUNTAX).
- Experience with researching Florida statutes and administrative codes.
- Experience providing written and verbal customer service.
- Documentation of education requirements must be submitted at time of application to proceed to the skills verification test. Failure to provide education requirements could result in removal from further consideration.
The hiring salary for this position generally will not exceed $4,605.37 monthly/$55,264.44 annually.
