Construction Cost Accountant Job Description Purpose of the Role
The Construction Cost Accountant will manage the financial aspects of all construction projects, ensuring accurate budgeting, cost tracking, and compliance with financial regulations. This role supports the company’s mission of "creating fun, memorable experiences" by ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality.
Key Responsibilities- Budgeting & Cost Control: Create and manage project budgets, track actual costs against budgets, and perform cost analyses to identify variances.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports, including cost-volume-profit analyses, to management for decision-making.
- Invoice & Payment Management: Process invoices, track expenses, and approve payments to suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Compliance & Auditing: Ensure compliance with financial regulations, conduct audits, and maintain accurate accounting records for internal and external audits.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and forecast cash flow to support project funding and timely payments.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, finance teams, and other departments to align financial planning with project goals.
- Data Analysis: Analyze market trends and cost drivers to inform budgeting and cost-saving strategies.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of construction cost accounting principles and project finance.
- Experience in private or public accounting, preferably in construction or hospitality projects.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite) and financial reporting tools.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with strong communication skills.
