Manager of Technical Accounting

Segrera Associates is recruiting a Manager of Technical Accounting on behalf of a rapidly growing technology company. This organization operates at the intersection of technology, digital media, and large-scale infrastructure, with continued growth and investment in its platform and operations. This is an individual contributor opportunity reporting directly to senior accounting leadership and will serve as a key technical accounting resource for the organization.

This is a hybrid opportunity (3 days on-site) in West Sarasota. Candidates must be located in Sarasota or within a reasonable commuting distance.

• Serve as a subject matter expert on technical accounting matters and provide guidance on complex and non-routine transactions.
• Research and interpret US GAAP and applicable financial reporting requirements, translating complex guidance into practical business recommendations.
• Prepare and maintain technical accounting position papers, memos, and supporting documentation for significant accounting conclusions.
• Partner with senior leadership, finance teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to assess the accounting implications of strategic transactions and business initiatives.
• Support revenue recognition assessments and other complex accounting matters as they arise.
• Assist with the development and enhancement of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls within a growing organization.
• Support SOX-related documentation and control requirements, including the implementation of controls around new or changing processes.
• Monitor changes in accounting standards and regulatory guidance and evaluate their potential impact on the business.
• Partner with external auditors and advisors on technical accounting matters, quarterly reviews, and annual audit requirements.
• Support the preparation and review of financial reporting, disclosures, and related technical accounting documentation.
• Help bring technical accounting functions in-house and establish scalable processes, documentation, and best practices.
• Serve as a trusted resource to the broader finance organization while working independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 public accounting or a comparable technical accounting/advisory environment.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and accounting for complex transactions.
• Experience preparing technical accounting memos, position papers, or similar documentation.
• Understanding of SOX, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex accounting guidance.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and take ownership of projects and deliverables.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical accounting concepts to both accounting and non-accounting stakeholders.
• Experience with in technology, software, cloud infrastructure, digital media, or another high-growth environment is a plus.
• Strong professional judgment, attention to detail, and ability to operate effectively in a dynamic organization.
