Overview
Will handle most clerical duties associated with a medical clinic. The Patient Services Specialist (PSS) position is divided into "stations". Each station has a distinct set of job duties, which includes duties usually performed by one employee in a typical day. In addition to the usual duties of the station a PSS is expected to assist co‑workers in performing every job duty of a PSS at all times.
All employees hired for the PSS position will be expected to learn and perform all duties of all front office stations. Because of different office layouts, a PSS may not perform some of the listed duties each day. Demonstrated strong copywriting and editing skills are essential. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to consistently meet time‑sensitive priorities, and high organization.
- Perform clerical duties in the assigned front office station.
- Assist staff in performing all front office duties.
- Learn and perform all duties of all front office stations.
- Support scheduling, registration, and fee collection.
- Maintain accurate patient records and data entry.
- Handle phone calls, emails, and patient inquiries.
- Participate in team meetings and trainings.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and multitasking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Valid state driver’s license for travel to satellite offices.
- Compliance with vehicle records and safety policies.
- Analysis & Critical Thinking – problem solving, decision‑making, planning, time management, and organizational skills.
- Interpersonal Effectiveness – emotional intelligence, diplomacy, conflict management, and diversity awareness.
- Communication Skills – clear written and oral communication, active listening, and balanced feedback.
- Customer Service & Organizational Awareness – strong customer focus, collaboration, and partnership building.
- Self‑Management – ability to manage time, priorities, and stress in a fast‑paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office:
Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required.
- Valid state Driver’s License for travel to satellite offices and off‑site meetings.
Travel required:
26–50% of time. Remote work is not available for this position.
Standard core workdays:
Monday to Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
