Title: Clerk Specialist – OPS
Location: Tallahassee, Turlington Building
This position consists of a Clerk Specialist supervised by the Educational Program Director in the Communications section of the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services (BEESS). The Clerk Specialist works closely with the Communications section and support staff from other sections to perform highly responsible administrative work related to the statutory regulations of the education profession in the State of Florida.
The role requires excellent communication skills with the public, appointed commissioners, and members of both the legal and education professions and is a great opportunity for an organized, detail‑oriented individual who can communicate effectively.
- Assist in answering incoming calls to the Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services main line, maintaining current knowledge of equipment usage and assisting in maintaining supplies.
- Assist with redaction and ensuring that electronic documents comply according to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
- Assist with tracking and filing papers and electronic documents.
- Coordinate communication and scheduling for required activities.
- Assist in reviewing requirements for the design of various publications, documents and forms using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Maintain and update lists for the bureau.
- Research and summarize materials for professional staff for conferences and meetings; assist in setting up meeting rooms before presentations, including technical and conference call equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Applicant must currently be a student and able to provide class schedule on request.
- Ability to communicate effectively, including verbal and written communication.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with others.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
