Position: EXECUTIVE STAFF ASSISTANT with Security Clearance
Location: Tyndall Air Force Base

Duties - Develops strategies for internal and external integration of day-to-day and long range high priority special assignments and projects personally assigned by the Commander, Vice Commander, Chief of Staff and other Generals on Staff (Canadian and United States) as well as assigned Special Assistants on a wide variety of sensitive and confidential matters.

- Manages the Commander's long-range planning calendar, and maintains the appointment calendar for the Commander, Vice Commander, Chief of Staff, and Assigned Special Assistants usually with commitment authority for scheduling appointments and meetings without prior clearance.

- Acts as office manager and coordinator over the administrative staff, recommending any needed changes to administrative policies.

- Maintains close working relationship and acts as liaison between the Commander and his Subordinate Commanders, Directors, and Personal Staff.

- Processes actions using Virtual Personnel Center (vPC).

- Responsible for oversight of the Commander's travel by assisting the trip planner in preparing itineraries that accomplish the Commander's purpose for the trip and makes arrangements by working closely with the appropriate foreign country, state, command, installation, or company to be visited.

- Establishes and maintains the Commander, Vice Commander, Chief of Staff, and other Executive Officers executive files, including sensitive correspondence. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
* Incumbent will be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or overtime which may include evenings, weekend and/or holidays and may be subject to short or no-notice recall to duty for emergency situations or exercises.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
* Superior Qualifications may be considered may be authorized if there is demonstratable proof provided on your resume.
* Leave accrual may be authorized upon request.
* A break in service of more than 3 calendar days may be required for permanent federal internal and transfer employees.
* This is a TERM position not to exceed 36 months
* This is an obligated position to which an employee has return rights. Upon the return of the employee, the selectee may be required to vacate the position. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes: (1) Works with procedures and rules of protocol in dealing with high ranking civilian and military personnel sufficient to arrange visits, meetings, and extend and respond correctly to formal and informal invitations and other correspondence.

(2) Works with a variety of administrative management and organizational techniques in order to evaluate clerical and administrative work polices and processes; and (3) Works with ATAAPS, EMS, vPC, and DTS and other automated systems. OR

EDUCATION:

Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or LL.M which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, if related3
