ResponsibilitiesCompile, analyze, and conduct research on employment data for use in the preparation of occupational employment estimates (staffing patterns) and occupational wages for the State of Florida, all Metropolitan Statistical Areas, and balance‑of‑state areas.
Collect, compile, analyze, and review occupational employment and wage survey data for assigned survey units and their employment. Analyze and edit survey responses, assign occupational codes to job descriptions reported by employers, and enter the data into the Occupational Employment Statistics software system. Process electronic survey responses with significant employment and occupations using the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics “Auto‑batch” utility.
Call non‑respondents to gather missing data, ensuring the highest response rate for assigned units, and enter data into the OES software system.
Research and investigate businesses misclassified on the Quarterly Census of Employment & Wages database. Review and correct North American Industry Classification System codes for individual establishments in the OES survey sample. Update returned mail for better addresses and contact information.
Review quality‑assurance edit tests identifying unusual occupations, high/low wages, missing, and dependent data. Verify and correct entered data, adding written comments on the survey data file when necessary.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Ability to perform a high volume of daily cold‑calling to obtain survey responses and build employer relationships.
- Knowledge of data collection.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Independence in work and ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Fact‑finding research skills.
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
As a condition of pre‑employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
Minimum- Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Economics, Statistics, Math, or a related social science.
- Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with outbound phone/cold‑calling.
- Basic knowledge of statistical methods and/or economic concepts.
- Two years of customer service experience.
- Bilingual in Spanish or Creole.
$34,760.00 – $39,109.92 annually
