Position Specific Description

Business Management is responsible for maximizing the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of operating renewable energy assets. The team develops and executes commercial strategies to optimize asset value throughout the asset lifecycle. Responsibilities include profit and loss (P&L) management, customer and stakeholder relationships, compliance with power purchase agreements (PPAs), financing and regulatory requirements, and the evaluation of strategic initiatives such as contract optimization, repowering, and other value-enhancing opportunities.

The Associate Business Manager supports the commercial management of one or more operating renewable energy assets across the Northeast region (ISO-NE, NYISO, FRP and PJM) by analyzing financial and operational performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and developing recommendations to maximize asset profitability. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams—including Operations, Power Marketing, Development, Accounting, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, and Engineering—to support commercial decision-making related to market strategy, asset optimization, hedging, operations and maintenance, and long-term portfolio value.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts basic operational analyses that supports informed decision making within the business unit, under the direction of a supervisor
  • Leads small to medium sized special projects
  • Performs quantitative and qualitative research, process design and modification, and report development
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Conducts analyses regarding issues that have an impact on the operation of a specific functional area and makes recommendations to management
  • Maintains project schedules and reviews documents for technical accuracy
  • Coordinates with cross-functional teams including Operations, Power Marketing, Development, Accounting, Finance, Legal, Regulatory, and Engineering to support asset performance and resolve commercial issues
  • Supports commercial strategy development by evaluating opportunities such as contract restructurings, asset optimization initiatives, curtailment mitigation, transmission and congestion management, and other value-enhancing projects
  • Monitors market conditions, regulatory developments, and ISO/RTO market changes to assess potential impacts on portfolio performance

    Identifies process improvement opportunities and helps implement standardized tools, reporting, and best practices across the Business Management organization.
  • Builds and maintains relationships with internal stakeholders and external counter parties to support commercial and operational objectives

  • Assists in managing and improving the generating asset or upstream/midstream assetsP and L including optimization of asset interaction with energy markets
  • Completes budgets and monthly forecasts, financial analyses, ad hoc reports, and modeling
  • Ensures compliance with power purchase agreements, land leases, financings and regulatory requirements
  • Generates invoices for land owner payments
  • Analyzes P and L variances
  • Monitors project operations
  • Conducts analysis on issues impacting operations and proactively identifies opportunities for improvement
  • Participates in value-added projects such as supporting regional leadership in the development of strategic plans, mergers and acquisitions, project development, asset optimization, restructurings and building relationships with off-takers, landowners, and state and local regulators
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
