An infant teacher is responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment for infants, focusing on their developmental needs through age-appropriate activities, close observation, and consistent routines, while also maintaining open communication with parents regarding their child's progress and well-being; key duties include feeding, changing diapers, implementing sensory play, fostering social interaction, and documenting developmental milestones within a classroom setting.
Responsibilities of an infant teacher- Child Development:
Deep understanding of infant development stages to plan age-appropriate activities that stimulate cognitive, physical, social, and emotional growth. - Classroom Management:
Creating a safe and organized learning environment with clear feeding, sleeping, playtime, and transition routines. - Observation and Assessment:
Continuously observe infants to identify individual needs and developmental milestones and document progress through detailed records. - Parent Communication:
Maintaining open communication with parents through regular updates, conferences, and addressing any concerns about their child's development. - Basic Care:
Providing necessary care like feeding, changing diapers, dressing, and hygiene practices. - Safety and Compliance:
Adhering to all safety regulations and guidelines for infant care, including proper handling and supervision. - Team
Collaboration:
Working effectively with other staff members to ensure consistent care and communication across the classroom.
- Plan games and activities that are developmentally appropriate
- Design a daily and weekly schedule
- Provide basic care and caregiving activities
- Evaluate children to ensure they are reaching developmental milestones
- Communicate with parents and update them on their children’s activities
- Previous experience as a daycare teacher or childcare provider (DCF 45 HOURS)
- Strong understanding of child development
- Patient, kind, and nurturing
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
- First aid/CPR certified
- Physical Ability:
Ability to lift and hold infants, bend, kneel, and play on the floor.
