Thalle Construction Co., Inc. is pleased to announce a career opportunity for an Excavator Operator on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County, Florida. This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville District’s history, valued at $2.87 billion. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures.
This project offers potential Project Team members a valuable opportunity to broaden their professional experience and advance their careers throughout its duration. The CEPP plays a vital role in Everglades restoration, aiming to enhance ecosystem health, improve water storage, and increase resilience to climate change.

Job Title: Excavator Operator
Pay: Competitive compensation package based on experience.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Operate GPS-equipped hydraulic excavators ranging from Cat 336 to Cat 352 size in accordance with project specifications and site requirements.
- Perform fine grading of slopes, benches, and subgrades using GPS machine control and/or laser guidance systems.
- Excavate, shape, and trim slopes to design tolerances while maintaining grade accuracy and production efficiency.
- Place rip rap and large stone in a controlled and precise manner, including slope protection and structural applications.
- Load haul trucks efficiently and safely while maintaining proper load distribution and cycle times.
- Feed and load crushers and screeners in accordance with production and safety requirements.
- Follow all company safety policies, including taking specific action to avoid other workers, equipment, and potential obstructions.
- Operate equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, GPS system requirements, and site-specific instructions.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and identify maintenance or repair needs.
- Maintain situational awareness when working near personnel, structures, utilities, and active equipment.
- Assist with general earthwork operations and be willing to perform manual labor when not actively operating equipment.
- Maintain clean, orderly work areas around excavation and loading zones.
- Conduct all work with 100% integrity, professionalism, and commitment to safety and quality.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience operating large hydraulic excavators on heavy civil or infrastructure projects.
