Ferrovial Construction has worked at Heathrow Airport for over 10 years, delivering complex infrastructure projects to high standards of quality, safety, and environmental stewardship. The work includes design and build projects with varied contract arrangements and ongoing collaboration with Heathrow to deliver value for money.

Reporting to a Senior Project Manager, the role coordinates temporary works (TW) across operations to ensure safety and compliance on site.

• Provide and coordinate temporary works information with other TWC’s on the project.
• Ensure the TW design is implemented in accordance with relevant construction issue drawings and specifications.
• Recognize that the PTWC role supersedes other responsibilities when applicable.
• Raise commercial pressures or unresolved issues with the Project Manager at the appropriate level.
• Verify that proposed temporary works do not adversely affect permanent works.
• Have authority to stop work if not being carried out satisfactorily.
• Ensure formal permission to load or progress beyond hold points is obtained.
• Implement project temporary works procedures and coordinate other contractor procedures, ensuring they are followed.
• Establish and maintain a main temporary works register, or ensure copies are reviewed and included as required.
• Act as point of contact for information from client, principal designer, TW/PD designers, site team and other TWC’s on TW matters.
• Prepare a design brief in accordance with BS5975 and applicable templates, ensuring it reflects on-site conditions.
• Reference any related temporary works in the design brief and include residual risks and loading constraints identified by the Permanent Works Designer.
• Issue the design brief to the TW Designer for a satisfactory temporary works design.
• Ensure a design check is performed by someone not involved in the original design.
• Share relevant design information with stakeholders (principal designer, designer of the permanent works) as appropriate.
• Register or record drawings, calculations, and other design documents.
• Obtain client and/or third-party approvals as required by the contract.
• Provide on-site supervision with all design details, residual risks, limitations, and guidance notes; prepare a specific method statement as needed.
• Prepare an inspection and test plan and a quality control checklist to verify compliance with the certified design.
• Check proposed material or construction changes against the original design and take appropriate action.
• Ensure checks, inspections, and tests occur at appropriate stages.
• Inform the designer of any scheme changes or differences from envisioned conditions.
• If inspections reveal discrepancies between certified and constructed temporary works, prevent loading until discrepancies are rectified to satisfaction.
• Issue a permit to load or proceed after final satisfactory checks; ensure TW loadings that affect permanent works are accepted by the Permanent Works Designer.
• Ensure all temporary works certificates/permits are uniquely numbered and maintained.
• Carry out maintenance during use of temporary works and issue a permit to unload or take out of use when appropriate.
• Transmit health and safety file information to the principal designer as required.
• Review contractors’ procedures for managing temporary works and approve or reject as appropriate.

• Possessing a valid CSCS card (Supervisor or higher) and SSSTS or SMSTS certification (Site Supervisor/Manager Safety Training Scheme).
