Estimator​/Project Manager

Frederick Derr & Company, Inc., a well-established,
employee-owned Sarasota contractor specializing in excavation, utilities, stormwater systems, concrete, and roadway installation is seeking an experienced, full-time Estimator/Project Manager.

Qualified candidates should have at least four to five years of experience estimating and managing civil construction projects valued from $200,000 to $15 million.

• Review construction documents and prepare accurate quantity takeoffs for civil construction work.
• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and confirm the proposed scope of work.
• Prepare and submit timely requests for information to the appropriate design professionals to clarify existing conditions and proposed improvements.
• Develop value-engineering options that strengthen contract-award opportunities.
• Prepare bid packages, solicit subcontractor proposals, and review quotes for scope compliance.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, material suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Prepare and administer contracts, change orders, and billings.
• Analyze cost data and prepare monthly work-in-progress projections.
• Estimate and negotiate project changes, then revise contracts as needed.
• Attend preconstruction meetings and gather relevant project information.
• Provide input and support for project phasing and resource scheduling.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred.
• At least four to five years of experience in civil construction estimating and project management, including earthwork, piping, concrete, and roadway work.
• Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid, Heavy Job, and AGTEK preferred.
