Responsibilities Do you want to polish your video production and editing skills? GEOSET (Global Educational Outreach for Science, Engineering and Technology) is an educational initiative founded by Nobel Laureate Sir Harold Kroto in 2006 to provide free video resources to educators and students. Today, FSU Libraries continues the GEOSET mission by providing media production services and training to the FSU community as part of its broader library resources.
GEOSET is seeking an OPS assistant to support its studio space in Dirac Library and collaborate with university partners across campus. This position provides hands‑on experience with video production, editing, live‑streaming, digital media, and studio operations while supporting GEOSET programs and services.
- Provides general video production support for GEOSET and assists with day-to-day studio operations.
- Provides frontline service to patrons seeking to use GEOSET services and resources.
- Assists with patron intake and scheduling for recording, live‑streaming, and other GEOSET services.
- Organizes and manages digital production files and assets in Windows and macOS environments for multiple users.
- Works with the GEOSET Manager to film and produce recordings and original video content.
- Performs basic video editing using Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- Performs basic graphic editing and design using Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- Organizes and archives completed recordings and original video content.
- Assists with closed captioning and transcription services as needed.
- Assists with maintaining and inventorying GEOSET studio equipment.
- Performs minor repairs and troubleshooting of studio equipment as appropriate.
- Organizes studio equipment and helps maintain an orderly and functional production environment.
- Assists with surplus procedures for equipment that has reached the end of its useful life.
- Performs routine cleaning and upkeep of studio equipment to ensure it remains functional and ready for use.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of GEOSET Studio operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 and/or Google Workspace applications.
- Interest in learning and developing skills in digital media, video editing, and audio recording.
- Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing and post‑production.
- Adobe After Effects for motion graphics and visual effects.
- Adobe Illustrator for creating and editing graphics.
- OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software) for recording and live‑streaming.
- Video recording, cameras, and related production equipment.
- Video editing techniques and production workflows.
- Podcast recording, editing, and audio production.
- Creating and producing digital content for social media platforms.

Anticipated Salary Range$15 per hour
ConsiderationsThis is an OPS/temporary job.
Based on the duties, this position may require completion of a criminal history background check.
GEOSET Studio offers a flexible work schedule based on scheduled events, recordings, and studio needs. Regular business hours are 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional events or recordings scheduled outside of these hours.
The schedule is approximately 10 hours per week, with the opportunity to work up to 15 hours per week based on availability.
