General Description Of Duties
Position provides customer service to visitors by responding to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person contact, supports Tourism staff and Industry Partners with group service requests, serves as ambassador for Tallahassee and Leon County at the Visitor Information Center, and provides clerical support for visitor servicing functions, including handling sales in the gift shop and via eCommerce/online sales.
Essential Duties- Serve as Receptionist: greet visitors, answer phone, route calls, provide visitor services functions during meetings and special events.
- Assist visitors with information: respond to inquiries, provide info on attractions and directions, help operation of digital information kiosk.
- Work in Gift Shop: cashiering duties including opening/closing shift reports, balancing deposits daily, processing cash and credit card sales, tracking inventory and informing Visitor Services Manager of restock needs.
- Assist with Promotional Items Request fulfillment: receive requests, forward form to Manager for approval, assemble items, track inventory, inform restock needs.
- Prepare Reports: input data for reports on walk-in, phone and email requests, group welcome packet requests, and gift shop inventory; prepare reports using Word, Excel, specialized programs such as iDSS, Point of Sale System (NCR Silver), Grant Management System (Zengine by Wize Hive).
- Cleaning/Sanitizing: regularly sanitize frequently touched surfaces using standard products.
- Knowledge of local Tallahassee community and surrounding area.
- Ability to research and self-educate to gain additional knowledge of local events and places of interest.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.

- Experience with Point of Sale/Cash Register System.
- Comfortable handling cash and credit card transactions.

The position requires standard decision-making ability. Tasks are repetitive, recurring and related to daily activities. Independent judgment is needed when assessing visitor needs. The employee must multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to changing responsibilities.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent, and one year of relevant experience.
Special RequirementsWeekends and some nights may be required.
Selection GuidelinesFormal application, rating of education and experience; oral interview and reference check.
FLSA StatusPosition is non‑exempt. This is receptionist and clerical work.
