The Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) is Florida's chief health policy and planning entity responsible for administering the Florida Medicaid program, the licensure and regulation of nearly 50,000 health care facilities, and empowering consumers through health care transparency initiatives.
Position OverviewThis is an exciting opportunity to help shape the quality of health care in Florida. We are seeking to hire a System Project Consultant who desires to work to enhance the delivery of health care services through the Florida Medicaid Program. This position requires a candidate who is creative, flexible, innovative, and who will thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑based work environment.
The position is located in the Bureau of Medicaid Data Analytics.
As the Agency hub for analytics, reporting, and visualization, the Bureau of Medicaid Data Analytics examines critical aspects of Floridians' health, health care services, and costs and is vital to managed care rate setting, health care economics, and health plan evaluation.
The incumbent will work with project and program leaders and is expected to identify analytical requirements, design, develop, implement, and maintain business solutions. Major responsibilities include interpreting results using a variety of techniques, from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to independent complex data mining; and assimilating and reporting data and research activities in the form of speeches, position papers, publications, and reports.
The incumbent will also be required to build technical writing documents. This position is not a remote or telework position.

- Strong knowledge of SQL, SAS, VBA, or other programming skills related to data extraction, transformation and loading.
- Knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Access and Excel.

- Three years of professional experience utilizing SQL, SAS, or other statistical analysis software to manipulate and analyze multi‑million record administrative databases. One year of experience in health care analysis may substitute for one year of the required programming experience.
- Two years of professional experience preparing data reports or presentations.
- Preference for candidates with a bachelor’s degree or a more advanced degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant discipline such as mathematics, actuarial science, computer science, or statistics.
Applicants must successfully complete a state and national criminal history check. Background screening shall include fingerprinting for state and federal criminal records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and may include local criminal history checks through local law enforcement agencies.
