Location: South Bradenton

This position is for a Licensed and Board‑Certified Cardiologist who will serve as a key member of the clinical operations team, providing direct patient care and leading efforts to improve cardiovascular health outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat cardiovascular ailments such as heart attacks and coronary heart disease; take medical histories; conduct physical exams; develop care plans; provide health education; refer to specialists and case managers; provide follow‑up care; and document progress notes and summaries following Chen Med standards.
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular care, coordinate care, read echocardiograms, manage population health for market members, and oversee PCPs’ cardiovascular skills.
  • Lead a cardiovascular care team that may include Care Promoters, Echocardiogram/X‑ray Technicians, and, when appropriate, a nurse‑practitioner or physician assistant.
  • Assist the Medical Director, Cardiology (MDC) in day‑to‑day clinical and business operations and in building relationships with providers and key stakeholders across Chen Med/Jen Care/Dedicated Senior Health centers in the market.
  • Consult with the MDC to ensure guideline compliance and participate in risk and quality management programs, clinical meetings, and initiatives that promote clinical value and quality, efficiency, and physician‑patient satisfaction.
  • Manage chronic cardiovascular disease for a panel of at least 5,000 patients, utilizing the care team and NPs/PA support as needed.
  • Assess patients’ suitability for cardiovascular or other surgeries and support surgeons or interventional cardiologists by providing pre‑operative evaluation.
  • Run and accurately interpret EKGs, chest X‑rays, and echocardiograms; determine appropriate laboratory investigations for various cardiac conditions.
  • Order studies, tests, and ancillary services as indicated.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with patient condition, payer coverage, guidelines, and industry standards.
  • Review PCP requests for external cardiology referrals and participate in delegated utilization authorizations; determine urgency of follow‑up or referral appointments.
  • Possibly oversee cardiology clinical operations at 2–5 centers within the market under the supervision of the MD, CVC.
  • Exercise final medical judgment for paneled patients.
  • Provide patient education on heart disease, wellness, prevention, and early detection; support CHF clinics and other patient education initiatives.
  • Assist in training and hiring of dedicated cardiology Care Promoters, NPs/PA.
  • Coach and mentor PCP physicians and other clinicians on cardiology management in the PCP setting.
  • Participate in cardiovascular team meetings, daily huddles, market huddles, super‑huddles, and team meetings.
  • Aid in quality and performance initiatives, spearhead cost‑reduction and market clinical strategies, and build relationships with internal and external physician stakeholders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, modified at the manager’s discretion.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or similar specialty required.
  • Board certification in Cardiology required; other sub‑specialty training acceptable.
  • Current, unrestricted, and active medical license in the state of employment.
  • DEX and DEA certificate of registration required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Cardiologist required.
  • Prior experience with interdisciplinary teams in quality improvement or health‑care leadership preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within first 90 days.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  • Familiarity with standard cardiology concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Superior clinical skills in managing seniors with complex medical needs.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills with external organizations and primary‑care physicians.
  • Analytical skills and ability to manage for results.
  • Conflict management and resolution skills; experience with population risk management or complex chronic disease care management preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with proper telephone etiquette.
  • Comfortable with electronic medical records, keyboarding, and proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other software.
  • Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationwide up to 15% of the time.
  • Spoken and written fluency in English.
  • Independent judgment and decision‑making capacity.

Pay range: $278,575 – $397,963
