Position Vacancy Announcement

Florida A&M University's Housing Department is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Coordinator, Education & Training Programs (Residence Education Coordinator) vacancy.

Responsibilities
  • The Residence Education Coordinator (REC) will report to the Assistant Director of Student Learning and Success in the Florida A & M University’s Office of Housing.
  • The REC plays a central role in fostering a safe and engaging living environment that supports student learning, personal growth, and academic success.
  • The role involves implementation of the residence education model called FANGS.
  • The REC will be responsible for managing the Rattlers RISE (RISE), a program for select sophomore students that maintains an annual cohort of 40-60 participants.
  • REC must directly supervise 4-6 RISE Student Staff annually (Student Success Mentors and Resident Assistants).
  • REC must have a working knowledge of responsible management of an annual budget.
  • Curate an annual schedule of events in cooperation with RISE campus/community partners for the benefit of students.
  • REC is responsible for planning the annual Alternative Spring Break trip where RISE students perform community service in another city/county or another country.
  • REC must be able to recruit second year students to join RISE by hosting info sessions and advertising broadly on campus.
  • The position requires an individual to have a working knowledge of assessment; this involves applying research methods to effectively gather, analyze, report, and collect data.
  • Serve as a liaison between Housing and academic partners including the living and learning communities, Undergraduate Student Success Center, Career Center, Office of Freshmen Studies, International Education, among others.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. The position requires a background check and/or fingerprinting.

Recommended Competencies
  • May require limited time work on weekends and after 5pm.
  • Must be able to manage a budget and scheduling.
  • Experience working in higher education, particularly in housing, advising, coaching, student affairs, student activities, recreation, student government, etc.
  • Knowledge of university campus resources available to students.
  • Knowledge of university of housing and student affairs.
  • Skills in office administration functions and computer applications: such as Excel, Microsoft Forms, Qualtrics, etc.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and respond to emergencies.
  • Student centered educational practices and programming.
Pay Plan

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate is subject to a pre‑employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education.
