Milton Hershey School (MHS) is a distinguished home and educational institution dedicated to delivering an exceptional, cost-free career-focused education for over 2,100 pre‑K through 12th grade students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since its foundation in 1909 by the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey, the school has flourished, becoming fully endowed and celebrating over 12,000 graduates while continuously expanding its outreach.

MHS is excited to invite married couples to join our team as Full‑time Flex Houseparents. In this rewarding position, couples will reside in on‑campus student homes and provide essential care, guidance, supervision, and support to a group of approximately 8‑13 students. As Flex Houseparents, you will be pivotal in creating a structured, family‑like atmosphere that fosters the academic, emotional, and social development of students, assisting them in reaching their full potential.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Offering daily supervision and mentorship to students
• Managing household routines and coordinating student schedules
• Administering medications and ensuring the overall well‑being of students
• Transporting students to various activities while actively engaging in developmental and recreational activities
• Leading daily devotions and attending Sunday Chapel services with students
• Overseeing budgeting and household reporting

Upon hiring, Flex Houseparents will support different student homes initially, working a schedule of nine consecutive days on duty followed by three days off, with unscheduled time on weekdays when students are in school. Over time, Flex Houseparents will transition into a Placed Houseparent role, where they will reside and work with the same group of students in their designated home.

• Competitive salary of $44,768.00 per person (totaling $168,000 for couples, including free housing, meal provisions during duty hours, utilities, and additional perks)

Qualifications required:

• Experience working or volunteering with youth
• Legally married couples for at least two years
• Both spouses must be at least 27 years old
• No more than three dependent children may reside in the student home
• Commitment to a smoke‑free and weapon‑free campus; no alcohol during duty hours
• Pet limitations: only fish and one approved breed dog allowed
• Valid U.S. driver's license and willingness to obtain certification to drive student home vans
• Comfort in leading students in daily devotions and attending Judeo‑Christian Sunday Chapel services (proselytizing prohibited)
• High school diploma or GED required
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Exemplary integrity and professionalism; MHS staff serve as role models for students
