Job Description About Healthy Learning Academy

Healthy Learning Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to support the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral development of our K–5 students. The School Counselor will play a vital role in fostering a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment while collaborating closely with students, families, teachers, and school leadership. This position is ideal for a counselor who values small-school community (we serve just over 100 students), relationship-based work, and a holistic approach to child development.
Key Responsibilities- Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Implement and support school-wide social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives aligned with our mission
- Support students with conflict resolution, emotional regulation, and positive decision-making
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support classroom climate and student success
- Partner with families to support student well-being and provide guidance and resources as needed
- Assist with behavior intervention plans and student support strategies
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation
- Serve as a positive role model who promotes healthy relationships, self-awareness, and resilience
- You WILL NOT be in charge of 504, or IEP paperwork (we have dedicated ESE teachers who manage those).
- Must be DOE certified in School Counseling
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred. - Experience working with elementary-aged children strongly preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to social-emotional learning and whole-child education
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, close-knit team
- Reliable transportation required
