CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION (HVAC) This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Gadsden Re-Entry Center in the Education Department. The mission of the Bureau of Education at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide comprehensive educational programs and services to inmates. JOB DUTIES:

* Plans, develops, and conducts classes in assigned subjects, utilizing various teaching techniques to assist student advancement.
* Supervises inmates in the class, conduct roll calls, counts, and maintain attendance records.
* Ensures order, discipline, tool control, and safety in the classroom and/or shop.
* Evaluates student progress, administers grades and tests, and counsel's individuals on program progress, behavior, or personal concerns.
* Participates in staff meetings, seminars, and workshops for curriculum changes and professional development, and assist in budget preparation and purchase requests for the education program. * A high school diploma or its equivalent and three (3) years' experience in the HVAC; or
* Possession of current licensure or certification(s) in HVAC or a postsecondary certificate of completion (must submit transcript/certificate of completion) may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
* Must hold the applicable HVAC license or industry certification or be willing to possess within 12 months of hire.
* Possess or be eligible to apply for a Temporary Florida Department of Corrections Educator's Certificate or if applicable a temporary State of Florida Educator's Certificate.

Successful applicants will be issued a Florida Department of Corrections CTE Temporary Educator's Certificate. Applicants will have 5 years to obtain the Department of Corrections Educator's Professional Certificate. A Department of Corrections Educator's Professional Certificate must be obtained prior to the expiration of the Temporary Certificate.
