Florida A&M University's School Of Architecture is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the 9-month, full-time, non-tenure-earning Instructor position.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate design studios
- Teach lecture courses in an area of expertise; areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, graphics, digital tools, building technology, architectural history, architectural theory, and urban design
- Provide service to the School and University and contribute to program development
- Provide exceptional customer service to all students as SAET faculty member
- Complete all school- or university-related meeting requests, seminars, workshops, trainings, and other notices as necessary
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Dean
A NAAB-accredited Architecture degree or its international equivalent.
Recommended Competencies- Knowledge of architectural design principles, theory, and studio pedagogy, including iterative project development and critique practices
- Knowledge of building systems, materials, and technical fundamentals relevant to foundational design instruction
- Knowledge of digital design tools (CAD, BIM, 3D modeling, and graphic software) used in architectural practice and education
- Skill in visual and design communication, including drawing, modeling, and digital representation techniques
- Skill in delivering lectures, demonstrations, and constructive critiques within a design studio setting
- Skill in using architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, Sketch Up, Rhino, or Adobe Suite
- Ability to guide students through the design-thinking process and support creativity and independent problem solving
- Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts clearly for undergraduate learners
- Ability to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive studio learning environment
- A NAAB-accredited Architecture degree, its international equivalent, or an advanced degree at the Doctorate level
- Two years of professional experience under a registered professional
- Demonstrated ability to teach digital communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with First Time in College students
Starting salary will be commensurate with experience.
Licenses and CertificationsPreference will be given to candidates who are registered architects.
Pay PlanThis is a Faculty position.
