Job Summary
Science teacher in a year‑round program for students grades 6‑12, ensuring mastery of state standards & academic success.
Salary$55,000

What This Role Does- Design standards‑based lesson plans and align instruction to teach across multiple, possibly mixed, grade level classes.
- Use formal & informal assessment to monitor progress & plan instruction to meet girls’ individual needs.
- Create lesson plans for all classes, using differentiated instructional techniques to foster an engaging learning environment.
- Create a safe & supportive classroom environment that is girl‑centered, trauma‑informed & strength‑based.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to foster a positive learning environment, ensuring student engagement, respect, & adherence to center policies.
- Develop, monitor & update Progress Monitoring Plans in collaboration with learners.
- Conduct academic advising sessions & utilize data to assess girls’ academic growth, documenting progress into a student data platform.
- Complete daily / weekly documentation requirements for attendance, IEPs, RTIs & others as assigned.
- Maintain accurate & regular gradebook & progress reporting for all learners.
- Be knowledgeable about state of Florida graduation requirements, promote college & career readiness & post‑secondary planning.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to accomplish girl, organization, & state & local requirements.
- Demonstrate appreciation for & ability to cultivate positive relationships.
- Attain & maintain certifications & endorsements by required deadline.
- Willingness to participate in occasional after‑hours events such as family nights, prom or community outreach.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
- Hold an active Statement of Eligibility, Temporary or Professional Teaching Certificate from FLDOE.
- Knowledge of subject area – comfortable teaching science for grades 6‑12.
- Comfortable teaching across multiple, possibly mixed, grade levels.
- Experience teaching in a trauma‑informed youth environment.
- Education degree.
- Valid Florida Driver’s License.
- Must be capable of overseeing students both visually & audibly to ensure their safety & well‑being.
- Expected to complete & participate in all required trainings & drills.
- Required to align with the Mission, Values, & Guiding Principles, maintain ethical standards, and comply with all policies & procedures of Pace Center for Girls.
This position requires a Level II pre‑employment background screening pursuant to Chapters 435, 984, 985, 943, Florida Statutes, and the Department of Juvenile Justice policy and procedures.
