Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university, Master’s degree preferred
Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned
Highly qualified as per NCLB guidelines
Satisfactory criminal background check
ESOL Endorsement/Certification preferred
Valid Florida Driver’s License and acceptable driving record
Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and procedure manuals. Follow directions and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Knowledge of current Human Resources leave system and Skyward inventory system (if applicable) or willingness to learn new technology practices.

Ability to utilize technology in facilitating instruction.

Knowledge of child development and especially of characteristics of children in the age group assigned.

Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum.

Knowledge of current educational research regarding teaching students with special needs.

Basic understanding and knowledge of use of current technology in the field.

Knowledge of current legal requirements for providing services to exceptional children.

Knowledge of varied learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.

Ability to effectively assess levels of student achievement, analyze test results and performance, and prescribe actions for improvement.
