Overview
Position Vacancy Announcement. Florida A&M University's College of Agriculture and Food Sciences is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Coordinator, Academic Programs vacancy.
Responsibilities- Aids in the liaison between the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences and all offices involved with scholarship programs, especially the USDA 1890 Scholarship program at FAMU, to ensure excellence.
- Develops and administers the processes used to notify qualified applicants to apply for scholarships awarded by scholarship and other award programs.
- Implements the processes developed for selecting scholars and distributing funds.
- Coordinates the awarding of scholarships and performs follow-up to ensure that scholarships are awarded to students as directed by college policies.
- Maintains the tracking system for scholarship expenditures and the database developed to record all awarded scholarships to ensure accurate documentation; produces a report each semester.
- Assists the academic programs in monitoring the scholars' academic progress and helps scholars identify support systems as required.
- Communicates with students to resolve scholarship concerns and directs them and parents when necessary to the appropriate units and/or persons for additional discussions about resolving their concerns.
- Coordinates with all CAFS programs, including academic and student support, to ensure that the scholars receive promised support in soft skills development, career counseling, internship preparation, and mentoring.
- Generates data-driven reports on all scholarship programs as required by the agencies providing the scholarships.
- Be willing to perform any other duties as directed by the College Leadership to ensure the success of scholarship programs in the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences; maintain continuous monitoring and awareness of changes in education systems as related to their potential impact on the welfare of students.
- Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of related experience; or a master's degree in appropriate area of specialization.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Ability to analyse and evaluate data and create reports.
- Ability to interpret academic program requirements and provide advice.
- Able to problem solve issues regarding academics, students, and scholarship. Must be able to pay close attention to detail.
- Ability to design, execute, and assess outreach plans to inform students of available opportunities and create new opportunities.
- Ability to efficiently prioritize tasks and meet strict application and reporting deadlines.
- Ability to interpret and apply related University policies, procedures, principles, and practices.
- Ability to adjust to policy changes and evolving requirements.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the College, University, and associated partners.
- Ability to adhere to all university regulations on data confidentiality.
- Excellent knowledge of academic resources available to students.
- Excellent knowledge of college and university operations, especially as related to financial aid.
- Excellent knowledge of data systems and proficiency in analyzing scholarship and related data.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and competence in Microsoft Office and People Soft.
- Excellent collaborative skills to work with faculty and staff to provide excellent service to students.
$50,000 to $60,000/yearly
Licenses and CertificationsThis position requires a background check and/or fingerprinting.
Pay PlanThis is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.
