Job Profile Summary Under limited supervision, this position serves the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Grant, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, through several campus locations and custom programs at Broward College to provide direct service and support to prospective, current and former students from the point of application through paid enrollment in students’ first semester using a case management approach.
The Student Success Coach will act as the student’s primary advisor and together they will generate a Student Success Plan outlining individual participant goals and identified challenges that potentially stand in the way of achieving these goals. This includes providing information regarding the College’s programs and services, admissions and registration, proof of residency, transcript evaluation, orientation, assessment of learning, facilitating student engagement in academic and career planning activities, student success skills, college policies and procedures, and student co- and extra-curricular activities offered at the College.
This is a temporary position with a chance of annual renewal based on sustainability of the program. The program is a 5-year program. The incumbent is subject to annual performance evaluations.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, Master's degree in Counseling or Education preferred.
An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
Minimum Experience/Training:
Six years of relevant experience.
Essential Functions:
Daily - 25%:
Responsible for providing academic, career, social/personal, financial and transfer advisement by engaging students in academic and career planning assessments, interpreting those assessments, assisting students in the development of academic plans that address their interests, skills, and abilities and clarifies their career, major, and academic goals. Additionally, this position is responsible for facilitating learning opportunities about college policies and procedures, student success skills and resources, and student life opportunities.
Daily - 25%:
Responsible for providing workshops on career exploration and assisting with academic enrichment workshops. Coordinates the development and monitoring of participants' Student Success Plans, assumes advising caseload and arranges orientation for new and returning project participants.
Daily - 15%:
Support students in ensuring that deadlines are met for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and additional required documents, working closely with BC’s Financial Aid Office regarding financial aid and scholarship opportunities.
Daily - 10%:
Assists the SSS Project Director by providing lead assistance of daily functions to Admissions & Registration Specialists and Admissions Officers. Consults with faculty, student services staff and others on behalf of participants.
Per Term - 10%:
Schedules and monitors sessions and advising appointments, as applicable. Assists with updates and revisions to student services and academic affairs materials and multimedia presentations. Supports planning and implementation of cultural opportunities during campus visits to 4-year institutions.
Weekly - 10%:
Provides assessment, academic planning, and academic support. Reviews transcripts to ensure eligibility for admission to a specific college or program including unofficial evaluation of transfer credits and applicability of academic credit to program requirements. Guides participants through various required application processes for transfer and scholarships.
Other – 5%:
Performs related duties as assigned.

In-depth functional knowledge and expertise in area of specialization and general knowledge of related areas in the College and U.S. Department of Education TRIO programs
Ability to perform complex administrative analysis with only general supervision
Strong diagnostic, analytical and problem-solving skills
