The Early Learning Coalition of the Big Bend Region (ELC) is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides services to families, children, and child care providers in the seven counties that comprise northern Florida’s Big Bend Region:
Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Taylor, and Wakulla.

ELC seeks dynamic students who want hands‑on internship experience to support the organization.

  • Internship positions are scheduled for at least 12 hours per week, and the ELC is flexible in scheduling intern hours around class schedules
  • This position will receive a stipend
  • Criminal background screening is required, and ELC participates in the E-Verify system
Qualifications:
  • Junior, Senior, or Graduate-level classification in Social Work, Family & Child Sciences, Human Services, Early Childhood Education, or a related field
  • The candidate should have strong MS Office skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, be a team player, be detail-oriented, and be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • GPA equal to or greater than 3.0
Duties:
  • Assist staff in completing School Readiness and Voluntary Prekindergarten processes and documentation
  • Participate in outreach events and quality improvement activities to understand community engagement and program operations
  • Assist with answering phone calls from customers, offering courteous support and routing inquiries to the appropriate team member
  • Support staff with data entry tasks, including updating family information, logging documentation, and maintaining accurate records in required databases
  • Observe and assist with scheduling appointments, organizing files, and preparing documents for eligibility interviews
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and peer review activities to gain a deeper understanding of program quality standards
