Job SummaryResponsible for providing responsive care, effective teaching, and an organized learning environment that promotes healthy development and children’s school readiness skill growth aligned with Head Start and state standards, including children with disabilities.
Education, Training & Experience- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Early Childhood Education/Child Development
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education/Child Development
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Elementary Education
- One year of experience teaching preschool-aged children
- Florida Educator’s certificate in Early Childhood Education, Prekindergarten/Primary, or Preschool Education
- Completion of 15 hours of state-required Emergent Literacy Course and Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten
- Completion of Reading Endorsement Competency I and Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten
- Satisfactory completion of First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course for infants and toddlers within 3 months of hire
- All hires must meet the Early Childhood physical examination requirements.
Current and former parents or guardians of children served by the Head Start program will receive preference for employment in Head Start vacancies for which they apply.
