Starting Date: Immediately
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $47,500 to $50,000 per year
Job GoalTo provide an educational atmosphere in which students will move toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and maturation in accordance with District philosophy, goals, and objectives.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Certified by the State of Florida in the appropriate area.
- Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening.
- Knowledge of child development and characteristics of children in the assigned age group.
- Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum, current educational research, and current technology.
- Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
- Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others.
- Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness; assess student achievement levels; analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement.
- Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so students have a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators, and others.
Planning/Preparation
- Create or select long-range plans based on district and state content standards, student profiles, instructional priorities, and appropriate lesson design questions.
- Define learning goals with rubrics and objectives for unit and daily plans.
- Demonstrate knowledge of content, prerequisite relationships, instructional strategies, and organization of activities in appropriate sequence.
- Identify learning outcomes aligned with district and state standards and prepare students for high-stakes testing.
- Revise plans based on student needs.
- Plan and prepare a variety of learning activities considering individual student culture, learning styles, special needs, and socio-economic background.
- Develop or select instructional activities that foster active involvement of students in the learning process.
- Plan lessons and instructional strategies that require students to engage with rigorous and demanding content aligned with district and state standards.
- Select, develop, modify, and adapt materials and resources, especially technological resources, supporting learning objectives and diverse student needs.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a positive, organized, and safe learning environment.
- Encourage active engagement of students in the learning process.
- Maintain an attractive learning environment.
- Use a variety of motivational techniques to maintain academic focus.
- Implement appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Establish routines and procedures and work with students to follow them consistently.
- Create a learning climate that is challenging yet non-threatening.
- Maintain instructional momentum with smooth and efficient transitions.
- Maintain effective record-keeping procedures.
- Manage time effectively.
- Develop routines to minimize time required for administrative activities.
- Manage materials and equipment effectively.
- Organize materials for efficient distribution and collection.
- Supervise volunteers and aides when assigned.
- Assist in enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
Assessment/Evaluation
- Establish appropriate testing environment and administer standardized tests ensuring test security.
- Use diagnostic assessments prior to instruction.
- Use ongoing assessments to monitor learning and adjust instruction.
- Track student progress on learning goals using formative approaches.
- Provide feedback that recognizes current status and knowledge gain relative to learning goals.
- Communicate student progress to parents and professionals responsibly.
- Encourage goal setting and assist students in monitoring their improvement plans.
- Communicate lesson expectations clearly.
- Evaluate effectiveness of instructional units and teaching strategies.
