• A thorough understanding of techniques, strategies, and rules of the sport, with the ability to impart this knowledge effectively to student‑athletes.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships with students, staff, parents, alumni, and community members.
• Exemplary communication skills.
• Willingness to collaborate closely with other coaching staff and school administrators.
• Adherence to all school and FHSAA policies and regulations, the Honor Code and sportsmanship expectations of the Maclay School.

• Demonstrated experience in the sport, with preference for candidates who have coached at the collegiate and/or high school level, competed at the collegiate level or possess substantial high school experience, or have club coaching experience.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule that includes travel to practices and games, some of which may be scheduled on weekends. Practices typically run from 3:00 pm, ending between 5:30 and 6:00 pm on weekdays; weekend practice times vary by sport.
• First Aid and CPR training – or willingness to receive training.
• A love for working with young people and a commitment to an inclusive community.

The work environment and physical demands include lifting up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds intermittently, up to 50 pounds rarely; carrying up to 10 pounds often, up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds intermittently; climbing, balancing, and crawling rarely; pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crouching intermittently; reaching, bending, and stooping regularly; sitting, walking, and standing often. The position requires extended periods at a computer, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, and manual dexterity.

Conditions may exist that create exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

• Physical demands: regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, hear; lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally; required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
