Job Summary

Responsible for providing responsive care, effective teaching, and an organized learning environment that promotes healthy development and children’s school readiness skill growth aligned with Head Start and state standards, including children with disabilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/Child Development (accredited institution)
• OR Bachelor’s degree with coursework equivalent to a major in Early Childhood Education/Child Development
• OR Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education (accredited institution)
• One year of experience teaching preschool-aged children

• Florida Educator’s certificate in Early Childhood Education, Prekindergarten/Primary, or Preschool Education
• Completion of 15 hours of state-required Emergent Literacy Course and Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten
• OR Completion of Reading Endorsement Competency I and Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms
• Satisfactory completion of First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course for infants and toddlers within 3 months of hire

• Reading Endorsement preferred; candidates with endorsement or willing to earn one may be prioritized.

• All hires must meet Early Childhood physical examination requirements.
• Current and former parents or guardians of children served by the Head Start program receive preference for employment in Head Start vacancies.
