Job Summary
Responsible for developing, planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program for exceptional student education (ESE) students through curriculum, lesson plans, educational programs, and individual education plan development while ensuring that all procedures are followed to maintain safety, security, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement curriculum, lesson plans, and educational programs for ESE students with autism spectrum disorder.
- Create and maintain Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Deliver instruction in a high‑school setting, including any additional periods as required.
- Participate in community‑based instruction and Special Olympics activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff.
Education, Training & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Exceptional Student Education or related field.
- OR participation in a state‑approved certification pathway program.
Certificates, Licenses & Registrations
- Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate or District‑issued adjunct certification.
- OR valid statement of eligibility.
Other Requirements
- Participate in community‑based instruction and Special Olympics.
Additional Compensation
If an additional period is assigned beyond the base contract, the teacher will receive supplemental compensation at the negotiated rate, paid in equal payments based on the district payroll calendar. This amount is part of the Florida Retirement System salary.
Background Screening
Pasco County Schools utilizes the Florida Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse for fingerprinting and Level II background screening.
