Paraprofessional

The School Board of Highlands County is seeking a Paraprofessional for the Enhancement position. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent. The position involves physical requirements such as lifting, bending, and pushing, with occasional exertion of up to 20 pounds and frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds. A satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening is mandatory.

Additional desired qualifications include clerical duties, typing skills at 40 words per minute, and demonstrated skills in using materials and equipment associated with the position. Paraprofessionals may work with school staff on clerical duties, assist individual students with special needs, and be trained in special assistive devices, hygiene, feeding, and toileting. They may also assist in instructional capacity and perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administrator.

The term of employment is determined by specific allocation approved annually during the planning/budgeting process. Performance will be appraised annually in accordance with School Board policies.
