English Language Arts Instructor – Indiantown High School
Passionate about literature, literacy, and helping students discover the power of their voice? Indiantown High School is seeking an inspiring English Language Arts Teacher to engage, challenge, and support students in grades 9–12. This educator will deliver rigorous, standards-based instruction aligned with Florida ELA standards while fostering critical thinking, effective communication, and a lifelong love of reading and learning. The ideal candidate is committed to meeting the diverse needs of learners, integrating innovative instructional strategies and technology, and preparing students to succeed in both post-secondary education and an increasingly interconnected global society.
Under general supervision, provides daily instruction within the field of English Language Arts/Reading to grades 9-12. Primary focus to be FLDOE state standards in ELA, reading support, with other ELA content as deemed necessary or desired. Help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible global learners.
Specific duties and responsibilities include:
- Teaches in a manner that assists high school students in meeting rigorous instructional standards at both secondary and post-secondary levels.
- Maintains a safe and effective classroom.
- Administers learning style assessments and applying instructional strategies based on those results.
- Integrates computer software and technology-based instruction appropriately.
- Utilizes and applies the Florida Standards, Florida EOC Assessment Specifications, curriculum frameworks, college course objectives and student performance standards in planning effective instruction.
- Maintains accurate records and complies with all reporting deadlines.
- Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications, knowledge and skill requirements include:
- Bachelors' degree and Florida Department of Education Certification in English (9-12) or Reading (grades 6-12).
- Masters' degree within field of ELA or Master degree with 18 graduate hours in ELA field preferred.
- Familiarity with cooperative learning and assessment techniques.
- Knowledge of best practices in education for high school students
- Bilingual a plus
- ESE/ESOL endorsement preferred. Preference granted to ESE endorsement
- Understanding of various student needs and learning styles
- Expertise in current instructional strategies and teaching methods
- Requires occasional evening, weekend or other flexible scheduling of duties as specified by the Indiantown High School Executive Director or designee.
Physical demands include the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty (20) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
Compensation and Final date to receive applications:
Pay range starts at: $54,620.00. All salary calculations begin at the minimum salary and are based on the candidate's education and experience. | Open until filled.
