Description
The Gulf Breeze Zoo is seeking enthusiastic and engaging individuals to join the Education team as a Full‑time Educator. Educators play a key role in connecting guests with wildlife through interactive programs, animal encounters, and interpretive experiences. Daily tasks include delivering educational presentations and supporting guest engagement throughout the zoo.
Job Responsibilities- Present educational programs, keeper talks, and interactive demonstrations to guests of all ages in a clear, engaging, and professional manner.
- Handle ambassador animals safely and confidently during presentations, following all established protocols.
- Engage with guests throughout the zoo to answer questions, provide information, and promote conservation awareness.
- Facilitate safe, engaging, and educational animal encounters that promote conservation awareness and inspire guests to connect with wildlife.
- Ensure the well‑being of animals and visitors during encounters by following established safety protocols, handling guidelines, and interpretive best practices.
- Ensure all education areas and presentation spaces are clean, organized, and well‑maintained.
- Assist with the training of new staff, interns, and volunteers within the education department.
- A bachelor’s degree in education, biology, zoology, environmental science or a related field is strongly desired.
- Preferred applicants will have a background in environmental education, public speaking or working with ambassador animals.
- Must be comfortable with public speaking and engaging with large groups of guests.
- Must be able to complete daily tasks in a timely fashion with minimal supervision once trained.
- Must be physically active, able to lift 50 pounds comfortably and work in all types of weather conditions.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a non‑smoking/vaping work environment.
- Weekends, holidays and special events are required.
