Adjunct Faculty – Principles of Accounting, UMGC

Location: Eglin Air Force Base, FL (on‑site)

Teach at least one class session per week for an eight‑week class. Possible start times include 11:00 a.m. (12:00 and 1:00 p.m. may also be available). No weekend teaching. Sessions scheduled on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.

• Principles of Accounting I (ACCT 220): Introduction to basic theory and techniques of contemporary financial accounting. Topics include the accounting cycle, transactions, and the preparation of financial statements for single‑owner business organizations that operate as service companies or merchandisers.
• Principles of Accounting II (ACCT 221): Further study of contemporary accounting practices, emphasizing data analysis for financial and managerial accounting. Topics include liabilities, equities, investments, business entities, job order and process costing, cost‑volume‑profit analysis, and budgets.
• Accounting Information Systems (ACCT 326): Introduction to AIS concepts, evaluation of AIS tools, integration, controls, technology, and e‑commerce.

• Actively engage students through frequent interaction, motivating them to succeed and conveying genuine enthusiasm for learning.
• Guide students in active collaboration and application in problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations.
• Provide regular constructive feedback, utilize rubrics for assessment, and acknowledge student accomplishments.
• Demonstrate relevant and current subject‑matter expertise, help students connect concepts across the program.
• Provide feedback to the program chair on possible curricular improvements.

• Master’s degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited institution.
• Professional experience in Accounting or related field.
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education strongly preferred.
• Certifications such as CPA, CIA, CISA, or CFE are desirable.
• Ability to teach on‑site at Eglin Air Force Base, FL.
