Position PurposeLead a classroom teaching team to provide early care and education to preschool children using the High Scope curriculum. Teacher 4 is a co-teacher with another full-time teacher; together they are assigned to two groups of children in the classroom. The role also provides leadership to part-time caregivers assigned to the classroom. Teacher 4 implements Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for children with disabilities and promotes family engagement with parents of children in the classroom.
A Preschool Teacher 4 Performance Standard explains the essential duties and responsibilities and must be used as part of this Job Description.
- Role model warm, secure, affectionate relationships with each child to create a positive climate.

Lifting, touching, and holding a child are necessary. - Implement the High Scope curriculum to plan environments, activities, and daily routines for young children.
- Use High Scope interaction strategies with children.
- Observe, screen, and assess young children to support ongoing developmental progress and achievement of RCMA School Readiness goals.
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
- Be an engaged partner with families.
- Manage the classroom.
- Coach other teachers.
- Commit to professionalism and RCMA.
- Adhere to all RCMA funding and DCF requirements.
Mandatory Qualification Requirements/
Education:

Note:
After initial hire, the employee must complete mandatory child care training (DCF 45 hours) as specified in the DCF Training Addendum and in accordance with Florida Statutes and funding source requirements to retain eligibility to be employed in this position.
Education: Must have one of the following:
- BA/BS degree in early childhood education or child development OR
- BA/BS degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education (18 credits) with experience (480 hours) in teaching preschool-age children
* Coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education includes courses focusing on child development, early childhood education and curriculum, early childhood teaching and assessment, psychology, family development, health and physical development, mathematics, science, and children’s literature. Such courses may be offered in various departments. It is expected that each employee will provide RCMA with information on college credit courses and demonstrate that the courses address early childhood education or child development with a focus on children ages 0 to 5.
RCMA will examine college transcripts and review course descriptions or syllabi to determine relevance to the early childhood program.
Note: All transcripts must be submitted to the HR Department for evaluation and approval.
Desired
Qualifications:
- Member of the community being served, and when applicable, farm worker background.
- Possess a current certification in Pediatric Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Pediatric First Aid.
- Use academic language in teaching and provide language models to others.
