JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a highly responsible professional and administrative position for planning, organizing, and directing teacher recruitment and recognition programs and initiatives for the Department of Education. The incumbent must supervise, communicate, motivate, provide or coordinate training, and direct the work of subordinates. Additional responsibilities include timely performance appraisals, development of accurate work plans, and approval of attendance and leave for direct reports.

The incumbent has authority to make hiring and disciplinary recommendations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Administer and assist in planning of statewide educator recruitment initiatives, including The Great Florida Teach-In, Florida Future Educators of America, and the Purple Star Teacher Leadership Program.
  • Administer and supervise the planning of the High Impact Teacher Corps program.
  • Administer and supervise the Heroes in the Classroom Bonus Program.
  • Administer a national teacher recruitment campaign.
  • Administer and coordinate technical assistance to school districts and postsecondary institutions in the area of educator recruitment.
  • Administer and provide oversight of the data compilation and reporting for evaluation of recruitment program success.
  • Manage, coordinate and plan recognition programs and events, including Teacher of the Year Gala, Teacher of the Year Roundtable, School Related Employee of the Year, Principal and Assistant Principal Awards, and Milken Educator Awards, and coordinate with the Florida Education Foundation to raise funds as needed to support programs.
  • Administer, promote and coordinate activities for the Christa McAuliffe Ambassador for Education Program, including speaking/presentation requests for the Teacher of the Year.
  • Supervision of professional and support staff in Educator Recruitment/Recognition Unit.
