** What You’ll Do
** The Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Instructor manages instructional programs for students with special needs. The ESE Instructor consults regularly with students and parents to ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program. The ESE Instructor participates in all steps of the IEP process. The ESE Instructor works closely with other teachers and district professionals to ensure that the school’s special education program is successful and operating in compliance with federal and state regulations.

The teacher is the most critical link between the instructional program and the students who will be served. Those employed by TCA will have completed an extensive review by TCA to ensure they meet the standards for the school both in delivery of instruction and establishment of the learning community and student-centered atmosphere.

Teachers will be expected to fulfill the role of instructional leader at all times. Effective Exceptional Student Education teachers will:
* Manages and provides instructional guidance, teaching and general strategies for a caseload of students. Provides General Education Instructors with suggested strategies/accommodations to best meet individual needs of Students with Disabilities (SWD). Provides direct services to students. Provides instruction that contributes to academic growth and positive development of students and demonstrates knowledge of subject matter to be taught.
* Develops, writes and helps implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans. Evaluate tests and assessments, complete report cards and conduct parent conferences. Assess the progress of the students assigned. Reports student progress information to School officials at scheduled intervals. Reports student progress and performance to parents at scheduled intervals and as specific individual needs arise. Communicates regularly with parents of students with special needs to ensure that their IEP goals are being met and are addressed in a timely and appropriate fashion
* Plans, organizes and creates a positive classroom learning environment. Establishes classroom guidelines which support the policies of the school and enhance the learning environment for the students. Maintains discipline of students. Provides for the safety and welfare of any and all students of the School. Assists with management and supervision of students throughout the School day.
* Consults with teachers and other staff in coordination and implementation of specially designed instruction, as defined in the IEP for students with specific needs and identified learning issues. Schedules, organizes and conducts IEP related meetings. Participates in the school’s Student Support Team by helping teachers and parents develop and implement program modifications and strategies for all students. Assists with the organization and proper implementation of all paperwork, documentation and procedures for the IEP process.

Assists with locating service providers for students needing related services as mandated by their IEPs. Assists with administering state testing and coordinate special accommodations that are required based on the IEP.
