Salary: EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT EDUCATION TEACHER SALARY SCHEDULE

Reports to:

Principal or designee

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate in Exceptional Student Education and Endorsement, as required.
• Meets certification and highly qualified requirement for core content area(s), at appropriate level.

• Ability to design and implement educational services for exceptional students.
• Knowledge of prescribed curriculum and research-based strategies for instructing students with varying learning abilities.
• Ability to use technology to support learning.
• Ability to assess student achievement data and prescribe actions for improvement.
• Ability to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Ability to provide specially designed instruction aligned to IEP goals.

• Develop quality Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) with present levels of performance, measurable annual goals, and appropriate accommodations.
• Collect and monitor student data, adjust instruction, and report progress toward IEP goals.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, and other staff to design and implement instruction and least restrictive service delivery.
• Coordinate scheduling and facilitation of IEP meetings and reevaluation reviews with families and school personnel.
• Participate in Eligibility Determination, Manifestation Determination, and development of FBAs and BIPs as requested.
• Serve as Local Education Agency (LEA) Representative if designated.
• Deliver differentiated instruction to students with disabilities, aligned to state standards.
• Provide transition planning and assist with transition-related procedures as required.
• Maintain documentation, attendance rosters, and schedule adjustments to reflect IEP services.
• Administer state assessments and ensure appropriate testing environments and accommodations.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and professionals; uphold professional and ethical standards.
• Support school improvement initiatives and participate in ongoing professional development.

Light work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed.

Salary and benefits in accordance with the District’s compensation plan. Hours of employment as established by the District.

Performance evaluated according to the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel. Supplement No. 03.
