Location: Apollo Beach

The High School ESE Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in grades 9–12. This role involves developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), adapting curriculum, and collaborating with general education teachers, families, and support staff to ensure students achieve academic, behavioral, and post‑secondary success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Provide direct instruction in academic, social, and life skills based on students’ individual needs
  • Modify and adapt curriculum, assignments, and assessments to support student learning
  • Use data‑driven practices to track student progress and adjust instruction
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion and co‑teaching models
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including IEP goals, progress reports, and compliance records
  • Support students with transition planning (post‑secondary education, employment, independent living)
  • Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and classroom management strategies
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians and participate in IEP meetings
  • Coordinate with related service providers (speech therapists, counselors, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal special education laws and policies
Highly Competitive Compensation and Benefits Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Valid state certification in Exceptional Student Education / Special Education (appropriate for high school level)
  • Knowledge of special education laws, including IDEA and IEP processes
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills
  • Experience working with high school students with diverse disabilities
  • Familiarity with inclusion, co‑teaching, and differentiated instruction models
  • Experience with behavior management strategies and crisis intervention
  • Ability to integrate assistive technology and adaptive tools
