An emergency teacher is a temporary, full-time educator who steps in to cover for the teacher of record during their leave of absence.

Emergency Teachers do not receive Florida Retirement System benefits.

Eligibility for Florida certification is required. FL certification in Elementary Education (Grades K-6) or Prekindergarten/Primary Education (age 3 through grade
3): is a prerequisite for teaching in field.
