Responsibilities
  • Provides individual academic advising and interprets policies for undergraduate Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences (IMS) transfer students from admission to graduation. Assists transfer students in the development and implementation of their academic schedules consistent with their educational goals and program requirements.
  • Creates, organizes, and facilitates workshops for transfer students to foster better acclimation to student life anizes transfer student orientation and advising sessions for IMS. Coordinates the IMS Program transfer student admissions working closely with the FSU Office of Admissions. Reviews transfer and readmission applications for the unit, determines excess credit, and MAP status at the appropriate term, coordinates decision with Admissions, and enters MAP term data into appropriate database.

    Coordinates the evaluation of transfer credit for major requirements and enters into appropriate database.
  • Works closely with academic departments, and other advising units within Undergraduate Studies to assist students in changing their major into one of the IMS majors. Reviews student records to ensure student is on track with mapping milestones. Evaluates Placement Form to determine appropriate seminar placement. Serves as the prospective transfer student contact for the IMS Program.
  • Assists department with the MAP registration hold process. Assists students in determining their eligibility in the program by mapping out their academic schedules. Assists the Program Manager to develop and maintain the mapping system as it appears to transfer students. Assists the IMS Program Manager with certifications, Academic Requirement Reports, and freshman orientation.
  • Attends prospective student events. Interprets University, SUS, and statewide policies and recommends policy within the assigned academic unit to effectively manage the degree mapping system within established guidelines. Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of system and recommends changes as necessary. Meets with prospective IMS students and their families to answer questions regarding the IMS Program majors. Attends Mapping Coordinator Committee Meetings as requested.

    Completes other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (

Note:

a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)
