The TECO Energy Internship & Cooperative Education Program offers college degree‑seeking students the opportunity for professional growth while meeting the business needs of the company. The program is an extension of the educational process, providing practical experience to complement formal classroom work. The co‑op program recruits students from colleges to give them an opportunity to work in a professional environment related to their field of study.

Position

Summary/Details

This position will support Polk Power Station and the Business Planning Department. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the station’s budgets, forecasting, finances, etc.

Accountabilities

Assist the station and business partners with accruals‑based accounting, monthly budgets and forecasting, strategic planning of capital projects, monthly financial closeout process, and more.

Working Conditions

Power Station but mostly in an office environment. Occasional field walking and may be exposed to heights, dusty, hot, and noisy environments.

Preferred Availability

Part time (20-30 hours)

Qualifications Education

The successful applicant should be enrolled in an ABET accredited university as a college undergraduate or a graduate level post‑secondary educational program in a related discipline.

Co‑op Requirements
  • To qualify as a co‑op student, enrollment in the university’s co‑op program (proof of enrollment required); if not eligible for co‑op program (or program unavailable), the student will be considered an intern.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

Storm Duty Requirements

Tampa Electric and its sister companies serve a role in providing critical services to our community during an emergency. Team members are required to participate in the response/recovery activities related to emergencies/disasters to maintain service to our Tampa Electric customers. Team members are required to work in their normal job duties or other assigned activities. Proper compensation will be made in accordance with the company’s rules and procedures.

Responding to storms will be considered a condition of employment.
