General Purpose of Job
This position is responsible for performing on site and phone assisted residential and small commercial energy assessments; resolution of high usage inquiries; residential meter testing; solar assessments; solar inspections; performing meter exchanges; counseling members regarding energy usage and operational improvements; and performing other duties as assigned by the department manager or designee.

MinimumRequired Qualifications And Competencies
Education
Field Services Specialist I
- Minimum:
High School or GED - Preferred: 2 Year / associate degree majoring in Electrical Engineering, Construction, Conservation field or related discipline.
Field Services Specialist II & III
- Minimum:
Two (2) year associate degree in electrical engineering, construction, conservation field or related discipline.
Certifications
Once certifications are obtained, must maintain and renew annually.
Field Specialist I
- Preferred:
Certification to perform Residential/Commercial Energy Assessments.
Field Specialist II
- Preferred: FSEC Residential Energy Auditor (or equivalent) certification (must obtain within 2 years or as training is available).
Field Specialist III
- Preferred: BPI Building Analyst Professional certification or equivalent (must obtain within two (2) years or as training is available).
Experience
Field Services Specialist I
- Minimum:
Two (2) years of experience in the electric utility industry or a related field, preferably in energy conservation.
Field Services Specialist II
- Minimum:
Three (3) years of direct experience as a residential (or commercial) energy auditor. - Preferred:
Two (2) years of experience in electric utility field work (working on energized services).
Field Services Specialist III
- Minimum:
Five (5) years of direct experience as a residential (or commercial) energy auditor. - Minimum:
Two (2) years of experience in electric utility field work (working on energized services). - Preferred:
Five (5) years of experience in electric utility field work (working on energized services).
Other Requirements
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including a personal computer, printers, copy machines, telephone, and fax machine.
- Ability to work irregular hours for assignment completion and flexibility to change scheduling and report to work on short notice during emergency situations.
- A valid Florida driver’s license for regular driving privileges of a company vehicle; must have and maintain an acceptable driving record as determined by SECO Energy.
- Extensive driving and field work to include, but not limited to, basements, crawl spaces, climb ladders to gain access to attics while performing energy audits, exposure to adverse elements of weather, travel to all areas of service territory and other facilities as deemed necessary; room setup and breakdown for programs and presentations.
- Frequent after-hours and weekend travel to provide presentations and promote SECO Energy products and services through a variety of community functions.
- Frequent business travel to all areas of service territory required.
- Normal work hours shall be eight (8) hours between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check, physical and drug screen.
Personal Protective Equipment: Required
Driving Requirements: Valid Florida Driver's License.

Field Services Specialist I- Confidentiality, Professional Conduct & Stress Management:
Demonstrates the ability to maintain confidential information, manage stress effectively, and multitask calmly and efficiently. - Surge Protection, Gener Link, & Rebate Program Administration:
Applies knowledge of cooperative surge protection and Gener Link equipment, including sales, reporting, and service order processing; installs and removes surge protection and Gener Link equipment, and administers rebate programs. - Metering & Electrical Diagnostics:
Demonstrates skill in performing meter exchanges and conducting meter accuracy testing; foundational electrical theory knowledge. - Energy Assessments, Systems Knowledge & Efficiency Investigations:
Performs energy assessments and applies understanding of HVAC, thermography, lighting, renewable energy, and surge protection. - Electrical Codes, Safety Standards & Energized Work:
Applies knowledge of Florida energy codes, NEC, and safety standards for live voltages. - Communication, Member Engagement & Reporting:
Prepares accurate correspondence, reports, and presentations; communicates effectively with diverse audiences. - Planning, Organization & Documentation:
Maintains thorough documentation, meets deadlines independently or collaboratively. - Member Service, Judgment & Interpersonal Effectiveness:
Demonstrates excellent member service orientation and interpersonal skills. - Technology & Software Proficiency:
Utilizes Microsoft Office and corporate software systems.
